In February 2017 Ghosn announced he'd step down as CEO of Nissan on 1 April 2017, while remaining chairman from the company.In 2013, Nissan was the sixth largest automaker on earth, after Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford. Taken together, the Renault–Nissan Alliance include the world’s fourth largest automaker. Nissan may be the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia and Mexico.In 2014 Nissan was the most important car manufacturer in North America.Nissan will be the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, with global sales in excess of 320,000 all-electric vehicles at the time of April 2018. The top-selling vehicle on the carmaker's lineup could be the Nissan LEAF, an all-electric car plus the world's top-selling highway-capable plug-in electric car of all time.In January 2018, Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa announced that every Infiniti vehicles launched from 2021 is going to be hybrid vehicles or all-electric vehicles.
