In February 2017 Ghosn announced although step down as CEO of Nissan on 1 April 2017, while remaining chairman in the company.In 2013, Nissan was the sixth largest automaker on earth, after Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford. Taken together, the Renault–Nissan Alliance could be the world’s fourth largest automaker. Nissan may be the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia and Mexico.In 2014 Nissan was the most important car manufacturer in North America.Nissan would be the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, with global sales of greater than 320,000 all-electric vehicles at the time of April 2018. The top-selling vehicle on the carmaker's lineup will be the Nissan LEAF, an all-electric car along with the world's top-selling highway-capable plug-in electric car of all time.In January 2018, Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa announced that each one Infiniti vehicles launched from 2021 are going to be hybrid vehicles or all-electric vehicles.
