In February 2017 Ghosn announced yet step down as CEO of Nissan on 1 April 2017, while remaining chairman with the company.In 2013, Nissan was the sixth largest automaker on the globe, after Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford. Taken together, the Renault–Nissan Alliance is the world’s fourth largest automaker. Nissan could be the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia and Mexico.In 2014 Nissan was the most important car manufacturer in North America.Nissan would be the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, with global sales in excess of 320,000 all-electric vehicles adjusted April 2018. The top-selling vehicle in the carmaker's lineup will be the Nissan LEAF, an all-electric car along with the world's top-selling highway-capable plug-in electric car ever sold.In January 2018, Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa announced that each one Infiniti vehicles launched from 2021 is going to be hybrid vehicles or all-electric vehicles.
