In February 2017 Ghosn announced although step down as CEO of Nissan on 1 April 2017, while remaining chairman with the company.In 2013, Nissan was the sixth largest automaker on earth, after Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford. Taken together, the Renault–Nissan Alliance is the world’s fourth largest automaker. Nissan would be the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia and Mexico.In 2014 Nissan was the greatest car manufacturer in North America.Nissan could be the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, with global sales of over 320,000 all-electric vehicles at the time of April 2018. The top-selling vehicle from the carmaker's lineup would be the Nissan LEAF, an all-electric car and also the world's top-selling highway-capable plug-in electric car of all time.In January 2018, Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa announced that Infiniti vehicles launched from 2021 will probably be hybrid vehicles or all-electric vehicles.
